FORMER UNIVERSITY
Old university flanked by turrets at the four corners, founded in 1548 by D. Juan Téllez Giron
Founded in 1548 by D. Juan Téllez Girón, fourth Count of Ureña and father of the first Duke of Osuna, it ceased to function as a university center in 1824. However, it has remained a place of learning. It was not until 1993, however, that university courses were once again offered here, under the auspices of the University of Seville. The interior of this handsome, rectangular building, flanked by turrets at all four corners, features an arcaded patio, an altarpiece in the chapel and the graduation hall, adorned with magnificent frescoes and a Mudejar-style panelled ceiling.
