PARADOR DE GRANADA * * * *
Old Nazari Palace in the Alhambra with a terrace for a dream stay in Granada
If there is indeed a dream place to stay in Granada, it is surely its parador. Located within the Alhambra, it is an old Nazarí palace, rebuilt under the reign of Yusuf I and then transformed into a convent of the Franciscan order after the reconquest of Granada by the Catholic Monarchs. It was here that Isabel the Catholic was buried, before resting in the Capilla Real. But this dream stay involves constraints, a very high minimum price since the San Francisco National Parador, inaugurated in 1945, remains the most expensive of the Spanish paradors and you will also have to anticipate your stay, because it is better to book on average six months in advance. But if we tick these two boxes, we will then have the chance to sleep in one of its forty rooms spread over this majestic enclosure. With wonderful patios, superb gardens communicating with those of the Alhambra and views of these gardens or the Albaycin. And to opt for the definitely luxurious formula, we will choose the "tower" room and its multiple windows on the surroundings. Those who will not be so fortunate can rest assured that some of the spaces in the complex are open to the public, such as the Parador Chapel, whose work, completed in 2018, has enabled the restoration of an 18th century Baroque altarpiece and wall paintings. Finally, the superb terrace of the parador restaurant welcomes you. To enjoy your choice of habas fritas, monkfish in Mozarabic sauce or the famous piononos, the sweets of Santa Fe, accompanied by the delicate sound of the small fountain.
