The high season on the Andalusian coast is mainly during the months of July and August: when the heat becomes difficult to bear, the beaches are invaded by crowds looking for coolness. Although it is hot in the middle of summer, Granada is also very busy at this time of year, especially since the Corpus Christi fair, the most important of the year, is usually held in mid-June. The Holy Week is also very much anticipated in the city of the Alhambra, attracting a large number of visitors. So when should you go to Granada? The best time to go to Granada is in the mid-season, i.e. spring and autumn, so you can enjoy the beautiful Andalusian climate and avoid the heat of the high season. Two very good options are the months of June and September, and late March and early April when the important holidays begin. You should also be aware that more and more hotels are differentiating between the less expensive weekdays, Sunday to Thursday, and the more expensive Fridays and Saturdays.

The weather in Granada is subject to a slightly continental climate. Although it is located in Andalusia, in the south of Spain, the altitude at which it is located and the proximity of the Sierra Nevada tend to calm the summer furnace. As for temperatures, in Granada, the daily temperature range is wide. It is on average 8-10°C in winter and sometimes more than 30°C in summer.
Overall, life in Spain is cheaper than in France, and perhaps even more so in Granada, Andalusia being the poorest region in Spain. In general, restaurants, accommodation, shows, some consumer goods and all supermarket purchases are cheaper in Granada than in Madrid or France. Andalusian bars usually offer a portion of tapas with each glass ordered. Because when you drink in Granada, you eat there too!
To travel to Granada, members of the European Union and citizens of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Monaco only need a valid identity card or passport. Nor is a visa required for Canadians if their stay is less than three months in Granada and Spain in general. Don't forget your driver's license for car and motorcycle rentals.
No special vaccinations are required to travel to Granada. The frequent problems that travellers to Andalusia may encounter are sunstrokes and insect bites (mosquitoes, small red spiders, bed bugs...). In Granada, tap water is more or less drinkable depending on the location, so mineral water (5 litre bottle or jerrycan, more economical) is preferred.
