CAVALCADES DES ROIS MAGES

In Granada, the parade of the Magi has been celebrated every year since 1912. The tanks run through the streets of the city from Calle del Gran Capitán, at 6pm, to finish their parade on Plaza del Carmen, at 10pm. And it is from the balcony of the town hall that Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar greet the children. Thousands of people attended the parade, which included about 20 tanks. A colourful and much awaited show for the children to whom Kings, pages and ladies throw many sweets. In Spain, Santa Claus is "replaced" by the Magi. But it is only the next day that the children open their presents.
