CUARTO REAL DE SANTO DOMINGO
Family-owned architectural complex with temporary exhibitions on the second floor
This 13th century architectural complex is a fine example of Nazarí architecture. The place belonged to Queen Fatima or Aixa, the mother of King Boabdil. One can admire in particular its quba or reception room, of great architectural value. A visit to the ground floor provides an opportunity to learn about the history of this place, from its origins to the 20th century, since the building was built on an old Almohad defensive structure, and to visualize the evolution of the gardens, from the Islamic to the romantic model. The first floor houses temporary exhibitions.
