PLAZA DE LA TRINIDAD
Place in a haven of peace with a beautiful stone and marble fountain in baroque style
Majestic trees surrounding a very pretty fountain, numerous kiosks and benches to sit, a few cables from the lively surroundings of the cathedral, this square is a haven of peace, to stop for a few minutes, or more if affinities, at one of the rare terraces of Granada that remain sunny. In Muslim times, it was an extra-muros space, attached to the Ziri wall and it was the construction of the church and convent of the Trinitarios Descalzos, in 1517, that gave it its name. Of this convent, which was totally demolished in 1889, only one remains, the pretty stone and marble fountain in Baroque style, which adorned its cloister and now stands in the centre of the square. Its current silhouette with its ray-shaped paseo, kiosks and benches was designed by Gallego Burín in 1947.
