Chez Francis is an old-fashioned French brasserie that's great to find in New York. The décor exudes a rustic elegance that will remind you of home, with wood and brass furniture, and a lovely counter that welcomes the liveliest of discussions. What's on the menu? Classic, tasty dishes: escargots, onion soup, steak-frites, duck breast... But what really caught our attention was the wide choice of meats and the incredible selection of wines. A little corner of France in the heart of the Big Apple, ideal for getting together with friends!

Had our anniversary dinner at Chez Francis. The ambience is very sophisticated but relaxing. The service was impeccable and thoughtful (asked if we had any allergies before handing out menu) and we enjoyed our server’s energy! We got an unexpected anniversary greeting on our dessert plate as well. The food is also delicious and generously portioned. Really recommend everyone to try Chez Francis!

Great food and service, some of the better French onion soup I’ve had in a while!

Chez Francis is a lovely French restaurant in the heart of Murray Hill. They occupy the former Les Halles spot that I frequented for many years in the early 2000's. The service was excellent and friendly without being intrusive. We enjoy dining at a leisurely pace as the restaurant is still pretty new and had plenty of availability. I assume will change as more people find out about it.

For starters, we chose two cheeses (Comte and Camembart) with duck and fig terrine which was prob the best terrine I've had. My sister also ordered the escargot which had a delicious garlic sauce. For mains, I went with the canard with cherry sauce and her the Bouef Bourguignon.

The duck was prepared perfectly at medium and was not sinewy, which is usually the case at many places I've dined at. However, the star of the evening was the Bourguignon. It was so tender and flavourful, and I could drink the sauce without the accompanying mashed potatoes. We ended with the souffle which was on the house. I personally could have used a bit more sugar as it tasted a bit too eggy.

I can't wait to get back to Chez Francis to try their other dishes as this is such a lovely (and necessary) French restaurant in this part of the city.

The food was, of course, fantastic, and the wine selection paired beautifully. The steak au poivre was served flambe, a wonderful presentation which caught the attention (and envy!) of everyone nearby.
