Superb rooms for a stay in a historic New York hotel.
The Algonquin is a historical site: it is here that authors and journalists have gathered since 1919 to discuss the world. Renovated about ten years ago, the hotel has lost its soul but not its charm. The rooms are quite small but warm and very well decorated. One of the strangeness of the place, a cat named Matilda (or Hamlet in the case of a male) haunting the hotel's corridors. A practice that dates back to the 1930s when a cat invited itself into the hotel to the delight of its guests.

On the good side: Location is excellent for Times Square, the bar and bartenders were fantastic and the staff were genuinely helpful. But they are bound by a run down property with sketchy policies. Would not recommend unless you have an exceptionally good rate and don't care about Marriott points.
