One of the historic and great spots for midtown fun and especially useful if going to see shows and coming back for drinks before heading to your room.

Cramped even by NYC Times Square standards. Old and not well maintained. Noisy. Elevators took forever. Note that this property does not fully participate in Marriott Bonvoy so you will not receive most elite benefits (no lounge, no breakfast, no upgrades), though they did happily provide late checkout when requested. Points and stay credit did not post correctly and had to get disputed. They charge a not-well-disclosed "destination fee" that is essentially a forced prepaid, nonrefundable F&B credit. Fine if you were planning to eat/drink in the restaurant already, but feels a little scammy otherwise, as nobody really tells you about the F&B credit unless you ask and it's not written down anywhere. Unsure why this is flagged as a Marriott/Autograph as the property misses nearly all the brand standards.

On the good side: Location is excellent for Times Square, the bar and bartenders were fantastic and the staff were genuinely helpful. But they are bound by a run down property with sketchy policies. Would not recommend unless you have an exceptionally good rate and don't care about Marriott points.

It is situated at an awesome location and easy walk to everywhere. It is an old hotel but the room is very nice and cozy. Front desk staff checking me in was super friendly explaining everything upfront in details. The cleaning service could be slightly better - although the bed was made, the hanger l left on the bed was not moved and I had a "sweet" surprise crawling into the bed that second night.

Drinks at bar are super expensive, add in gratuity automatically. Rooms are a bit dated. Great location

A stay at this recently renovated famous literary landmark just off Times Square and walkable to Broadway show is a treat. Our rooms were spacious for midtown Manhattan and all the amenities were more than adequate for the night. Definitely try the themed cocktails at the lobby bar (carrying on the traditions of the historic "Blue bar" next door which is now an event venue called"the oak room"). Be sure to say hi to Hamlet The resident feline in the lobby.

The rooms are small, but the elegance of the hotel, as well as location, is phenomenal. The staff is helpful and nice. This is our go-to hotel when visiting NYC. Highly recommend!!

I had a wonderful stay at The Algonquin hotel, one of the most historic and charming hotels in New York City. As soon as I exited the cab, I was greeted by a friendly doorman who helped me with my bags and escorted me to the lobby. There, I met Marissa at the front desk, who remembered me from a previous stay. check-in process quick and easy. She also helped me locate a restaurant I was looking to visit.

My room was spacious, comfortable, and had all the amenities I needed in a NYC hotel room.

The hotel also offers a 24 hour gym. Which was modern and clean.

The bartenders were attentive and provided wonderful suggestions for drinks and dishes, all the food I tried was wonderful.

The hotel combines the allure of classic New York City charm with modern amenities and impeccable hospitality. I can't wait to come back and experience it again.

Such a rude bartender and overpriced drinks

So I just left the Algonquin Hotel after a 3 day stay and I have to say it was very enjoyable! The best part was unexpected though, there is a bartender there named Christian who has a passion for extremely amazing service, his service is so good that it made a big impact on my life and set an example of what really amazing service is. As I ride towards the Airport to fly home my mind is racing on all the new techniques I will implement to increase my service when I return home.

Boutique hotel owned by Marriot. Old world charm, very friendly service, cozy bar/restaurant area and of course the resident cat, Hamlet.
We had a corner King room (the larger king room). The bathroom was almost comically small, but the room was very clean and felt so much better than your typical, nice but bland, hotel. Very unique, will definitely stay here again.

Horrible experience that doesn’t seem to end. We were overcharged for a bottle of wine that was listed as $54 and they charged us $114 (the bottle is only worth $7 by the way), when we asked that they fix they said they couldn’t and that a manager wouldn’t be in until after we left. We had to call Marriot corporate who said they would give us a refund in the next week (still waiting on that) then the front desk staff was annoyed when we called the corporate office. On top of that, it’s been 5 days and they still have not given us back the $150 smoking deposit, only $80, and neither of us smoke and we left the room in perfect condition. When we asked why they didn’t give us the full $150 they said they didn’t know and we would have to wait for a manager to call us back. Guess who never called? This is so ridiculous and 100% not worth the stay. The rooms are not up to par for the price you are paying and the carpets were so dirty I had to wear socks the entire time in the room. Do not book here!

This has become our favorite place to stay in New York, stately, dignified, well appointed and with a beautifully updated restaurant/lounge. Though just 2 blocks away, the chaos of Times Square is absent on this block of 44th Street. A new fee structure encourages you to use the restaurant which we discovered was fantastic. Staff is professional and polite and the food is excellent in preparation and presentation.
