Royal authorization for construction was granted in 1754, but the work was not finally completed until the 19th century. The building is delightful, with its interior frescoes and small garden protected by a wrought-iron gate. The church has three naves, each ending in a chapel. The dome is decorated with master frescoes, all restored in 1963. Because of its decoration, this church is often compared to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
