Inaugurated in 1981, the museum presents a panorama of the history of music, particularly the African influence, in Cuba and elsewhere, from the 16th to the 20th century. One room is devoted to Afro-Cuban instruments from the collection of Fernando Ortiz, the man Cubans call the Sabio, who devoted his life to the study of Cuban culture. In other rooms, you can see the piano of the famous 19th century pianist, Nicolás Ruiz Espadero, and a 19th century Pleyel, the only replica of which is in Vienna, and many other amazing instruments.
