The Compay Segundo House Museum is hard to find in the middle of a residential area of Miramar. However, it is a magical place that you must visit, whether you are a fan of the Buena Vista Social Club or not! Visiting the house where Compay Segundo lived from 2000 to 2003 and where he died allows you to go through the life of this exceptional Cuban artist with emotion, this peasant who started from nothing and always had this incredible joy of living that characterized him. It is also to go through the history of Cuba through his life. You will see a photo where Compay seems very complicit with Fidel Castro!
As for the house itself, it has remained as Compay left it. You will see many personal objects, the musical instruments that he used throughout his career, up to the harmonica that he made himself. The walls are decorated with many photos, and you will see one of Charles Aznavour whom he loved. As for his room, it seems that he left it yesterday, it is in his bed that he died peacefully in his 96th year. We feel good in this pretty and bright house, like Compay who had the gift to communicate his happiness to others.
