This is where you will come to buy your gorilla and chimpanzee permits if you have decided to do without the services of an agency. Documentation is scarce, but the staff will be happy to provide you with any useful information you may need. Please note: due to the high number of visitors at certain times of the day or week, you may have to wait a long time (an hour or more...) before you get the precious sesame seeds...

Why can’t tourists book chimp tracking permits themselves? Not even in person at the office? Currently trying to find a local tour operator charging less than $50 because I’m not allowed to fill in a piece of paper myself.

We had a great time chimpanzee tracking at Kibale, however, the staff at the reception were very rude when one of our friends did not have a permit. We were told by several tour guides that you could get a permit at Kibale, this turned out not be to true. We understood this, but the way we were met by the staff was very unnecessarily rude, the woman at the reception wouldn't even look at us. However, the guides themselves were nice and we saw lots of chimps.
