An elegant and comfortable boutique-hotel with a princely décor combining an ancient touch and modern design. Refined atmosphere, a haven of peace just a few steps away from Piazza Politeama. The area is very chic. The breakfast room - by the way, of remarkable quality, fresh, organic, natural - is a little marvel worthy of a movie set. Each room, with original flooring, is decorated with a beautiful painting. The little extras: the gym and the parking lot.

Unfortunately, this hotel does not meet my standard for its claimed 4 star rating though, as the corridors and furnishings have a generally tired look, there is no view whatsoever out the shuttered windows that let in minimal light, the wifi is slow and inconsistent and many small things are overlooked. For example, we had to request additional coffee pods to be restocked twice (and toilet rolls on another occasion). The second time we requested the coffee pods in mid afternoon, we were curtly told by reception that she could not assist at that time as she was the only person on duty. I asked for clarification - “what, are you the only person in the whole hotel???” Yes, apparently. She eventually brought instant coffee, which we explained we already had and that we had asked for coffee pods. She curtly responded that she’d need to come back later as “it’s not my job”! Then finally, she returned with only two.
On another occasion, we asked for the cost of a taxi to a restaurant we had booked. The response was also less than helpful and gave us the impression we were simply an annoyance.
Other small things spoiled this stay - the gentlemen staffing the breakfast area need some training - you do not clear a table after guests have left by simply sweeping all the table crumbs onto the floor with your hand! And for two days in a row, the milk in the milk jug seemed off or very close to expiry.
The rooms themselves have thin walls so it is easy to hear guests in the corridor or adjoining rooms. But more annoyingly, cleaning staff start clattering around in the corridor at 7:30am - I don’t think they understand that the Do Not Disturb sign actually means “do not disturb guests”.
On checkout, our final experience was almost humorously in line with the rest of the stay. We were presented with a full bill for our stay - which would be fine if we hadn’t already fully prepaid it when we made the booking.
In summary, this basic hotel lacks attention to detail. We would not stay at this hotel again.
