The reviews with Denise and Shaq are true, they are excellent employees and do everything they can to make this hotel. They are friendly, competent and have great suggestions. My only issue with this hotel is with the fine details. This could be a 4 or 5 star luxury hotel but don’t be confused, it’s not. It is a reasonable, good, middle hotel and that is wonderful. The negative reviews are believing this hotel is something it’s not supposed to be. However, with just a small amount of upgrades like contracting with a fancy soap/shampoo company, fixing up bathrooms and swapping out broken items this could be a $400 a night place. Soo, sshhhh don’t take away this amazing deal. Families are welcome and I will be staying here again.

The hotel is nice with good quality rooms.
The service was poor. My room wasn't made up on the first day or the second day. I asked the person at the front desk if it could be made up on the third day, but they didn't do it, even though I specifically asked the day before cleaning staff came in.. Just plain bad service.
Also the bathroom is old. Didn't bother me, but the tile is old with missing grout, toilet seat was lose. Tap leaks profusely when I turn it on which sends water across the vanity. Obviously not doing repairs. I told the front desk; they did not fix it.

Traveling as a solo woman I felt safe in this hotel but I believe that to be the bare minimum.

The location is good, it's near restaurants but far away from Bourbon St that it's not loud at night. I was able to walk everywhere but it's not very close to public transportation. There is a fee for checking in early but they will hold your bags for you for no fee.

The two middle aged women who worked the desk in the mornings were both very condescending, it seemed like they didn't want me there. But Shaq the door man and the people at the desk in the evening were all amazing and very kind.

The room was small and the bed wasn't very comfortable but it was a fine place to spend the night.

There is no parking and very limited amenities, essentially none. And the lobby bathroom is apparently part of the restaurant so the hotel doesn't stock it, meaning it has no toilet paper in it half the time...

I had points so booked one night here for free before a cruise. I would not stay here again. Pros - Location is fine and close to the trolley, feels safe. Cons - what was once a nice old hotel now feels run down and cheap - mattresses are sinking in the middle, the pillows are those weird small squares with loose fluff - like horribly cheap. Old old bathtub so slick we had to use the gross bathmat. Tub handles didn’t work properly and it runs. Room lighting is dark and it doesn’t feel very clean. The shampoo, conditioner and soap are the cheapest you could get and the towels are rough and threadbare. I’m a Wyndham Diamond and no recognition of status - in fact, when I reminded that I needed late checkout (which I had confirmed upon booking and should get due to my Diamond status) the older lady immediately started arguing with me and told me if I got anything it would be an hour or they’d charge me, but she didn’t think they could even do it. The younger lady was very kind and said I’m in the system right now and we can do it and had the availability so the older lady reluctantly agreed to let us have until 1pm for late checkout which we were supposed to have all along. The fact that she was saying no before even looking told me everything. My friends also stayed here and asked for dinner ideas (nothing fancy, 2 families looking for local and easy) and the ladies said they weren’t from around here and had no idea, which is just odd. I have no idea why this isn’t a two star hotel. Mother’s, which is a well-known local joint, is a quick walk away and we appreciate the gentleman outside who recommended it. Any basic Hyatt, Marriott or Hilton would be nicer and I wonder if the other Wyndhams here are nicer and this one is a fluke. I wouldn’t stay here again if it was free (it’s free this time on points and so money isn’t really the issue here) - it’s just cheap and rundown. I’m typically very honest but generous with my reviews but as I lay here on this weird cheap square pillow at 6am I thought I would go ahead and let other travel aficionados know that this hotel is a miss.

Horrible experience. I paid for hotel room through points on a credit card. Room was paid in full. I confirmed at check in and check out that I wouldn’t be charged for anything. Two days after check out I was charged in full for both nights plus security deposit. I spoke with hotel management who stated through phone conversation and via email that room was in fact paid in full and shouldn’t be charged. The hotel however isn’t reversing the charge. It’s been almost three weeks now and over a dozen calls to both the hotel and my credit card company. I disputed charge today with my credit card company who informed me the hotel also set up the charge as a reoccurring transaction so I would be getting charged monthly like a subscription. I had to block merchant to prevent additional charges. The whole process has been a nightmare. I would avoid establishment, it was a terrible experience.
