Small, very irregular church, approx. 5 m by 5 m and 3.6 m high, dedicated to the fifty martyred virgins beheaded in Edessa.

This small church, also known as the House of Virgins, is carved out of the rock on the south side of Beta Maryam. It is known for being dedicated to the fifty martyred virgins beheaded in Edessa (now in Turkey), during the reign of Julian the Apostate, a Roman emperor in the 4th century, to promote Neoplatonic Hellenism. It measures approximately 5 m by 5 m and is 3.6 m high. The church has four square columns inside, but is very irregular in shape, suggesting that it may not have originally been intended as a church.
