ROCK CHURCHES IN TIGRAY
Go there and contact
Many travellers, probably eager to see the churches of Lalibela, take little time to visit the churches of Tigray, preferring to continue their road to Aksum in the north, or join Bahar Dar to the west. However, this region can easily be the sole purpose of a journey, and not only for the lovers of religious art. In a relatively narrow perimeter, some sanctuaries, probably more, are distributed in the mountainous mountains on both sides of the Mekele-Wikro-Sinkata axis, mostly isolated in the midst of majestic natural sites. The most easily accessible can regularly see a few visitors; others, requiring long shipments by car and then on foot, are virtually unknown to foreigners. Thus, it is common to find ourselves alone in sites where time seems to be suspended and where the ways of life, they are also immutable, we confront scenes that seem to have come from biblical times.
