Only two buildings remain from the reign of Yohannes , including the library and the small pavilion topped by a tower.
Yohannes I, known as the Just, was the fourth son of Fasiladas. Only two buildings remain from his reign, identified by oral tradition as a library and a small pavilion topped by a tower that served as a chancellery. The latter is now an empty shell. More interestingly, the library, the only plaster-covered building with some of its windows still decorated, bears witness to the great erudition of this priest-king.
