A must-see restaurant, easy to spot in the long line outside the front door. It owes its popularity to its truly exquisite cuisine, and to its low prices. Contrary to what its name suggests, its cuisine is rather typical of Shanghai, but revisited. Nice canteen atmosphere, although a bit noisy. The kitchen is open to the restaurant. This is one of the favorite restaurants of San Franciscans and, after thirty years of existence, the couple of owners Peter and Lily opened a second restaurant which is managed by their daughter Kathy.

Horrible food! My family and I ate here during our first time in San Francisco and the food was almost inedible. Some members of the family wanted smaller portions and were just going to order appetizers. While ordering the “chef” came out to greet us and when he saw we had multiple orders of the same appetizers, they recommended different appetizers. We tried to explain that those appetizers were only for the two people wanting smaller portions. They nodded in agreement and we ordered what they recommended. Little did we know they double ordered all the appetizers so there were several for each person at the table which was substantially more expensive and way more food than the two servings of appetizers that we had originally tried to order. One person in the party ordered the sesame chicken and it was fried so much you couldn’t tell it was chicken. It was all clumped together in an extra crispy mess. I’m not sure the last time the pictures of the menu were updated on Google, but the food looks nothing like that. If you’re looking for a place to eat in Chinatown, stay away.

First day in SF for a birthday trip and the first restaurant to fill our bellies. This place did Moy disappoint at all! The sesame chicken? A banger. The sizzling fried rice? A banger. The pork dumplings with chili oil? A banger. Literally can't go wrong with any of these options. Will be added to my list of must try places in the state of California.
