This place has the old-fashioned 1960's homey vibes you're looking for in an Italian restaurant, just absolutely delightful and great for a night out. When you walk in, you are greeted with decorum and interior design of an old-age Italian Trattoria, plucked right from Rome or Florence. The servers are very courteous and friendly as well. The menu is about as classic as it gets, which could be a good thing or bad thing (all your Italian and Italian-American favorites are here, but there is not much reinvention or creativity in the menu). Some of my personal favorite items I tried were the Pesto pasta, as well as the Risotto alla Milanese (though would've prefered if the Risotto came with the Milanese Veal too). The fried calamari was also a classic and very tasty. Overall I think it's a great place, a little on the pricey side but great for a night out in SF North Beach.
The food was excellent. My tortellini were crafted brilliantly, and the lasagna was masterfully delicious. I recommend taking this culinary journey of Italian cuisine as a celebration of life, love and/or family.
The history of this place, wow.

Every time they seat us, they say welcome home!
the food alone is enough reason to make your way here. I'm talking about homemade fresh pastas, creamy rich sauces, juicy tender meats, all of it.
Anyways home made breads and pastas, deserts… I usually do the three sauce pasta medley with a salad… I like to have all the flavors…. Love pesto and the ravioli’s… cheesecake for dessert usually (if they have it) $100 for 2 people… it’s worth it, usually about 3 servings of bread… nom nom nom
The waiter was nice but the food was horrid!
The clam sauce had over cooked and very gritty clams, the lasagne was just meh, and the cioppino I had was truly horrendous. Very little of the flavorless broth and the seafood was over cooked so it was rubbery. I should have mentioned it at the time but we just wanted to get out.
They were a little busy but this is still not an excuse for awful food and subpar service. I will go back one more time to see if it was an anomaly but the other couples we were with stated they would not be going back.
Bill with appetizers, drinks, and main course was about $700.
The pianist played beautifully.
