Tony Gemignani is a thirteen-time world pizza champion! As a result, you'll often have to wait almost half an hour to sample the wonders of this San Franciscan pizzaiolo. Let the hostess know that you'd like to eat at the bar, so the wait is shorter. Or take a slice of pizza to go at the dedicated counter on the street. The pizzas are delicious, and seem to come straight from Naples, both in inspiration and in the products used. Tony has also mastered the art of pastas and tiramisu.

I ordered Margherita pizza ( award winning). Pizza was soggy at the get go. I asked the serve if it’s meant to be this way. He said yes, it’s supposed to be wet and that they kept it in oven for 5 mins. I always thought Neapolitan pizzas had crispier crust and time spent in oven was less. Either way service was slow, not very personable esp towards tourists. Overall average.

Great food, service could have been more attentive. Giving 4 stars as we were sat inside in the evening and the doors were being left open. It was *freezing* and unfortunately our food cooled very quickly too. Will definitely come back in better weather.

Yumm, Ricotta!

It was pizza-shaped but didn’t have any pizza flavor. The highly-touted “Marguerita” was a joke and the “New Yorker” was so spicy you could hardly eat it; this is good because it was cooked so poorly you couldn’t pick it up without all the topping falling off. They gave us 50% off the pies and nothing else. Do yourself a favor and skip this mess.

A wide variety of pizza styles with multiple award winning pizzas, this Little Italy staple is pretty good, and just about lived up some of its expectations.

The pizza margherita was good! A bit bigger than the normal neopolitans, not as much leoparding as I like, not as much crust bloom as I like, but still very very good, the natural conclusion of simply using good ingredients.

The Detroit style is another enjoyable slice; while I don't think it stacks up to the Detroit classics like Buddy's, it's its own thing for sure. The crust does not have the kind of browned cheese crust that true Detroit styles do with their blue steel pans, so it actually reminds me of a Sicilian Grandma/nonna slice.

Personally, however, I'd stay away from classic Californian style pies and the other "roman" pizzas; I don't believe they are actually authentic to Rome in their two styles: pizza al taglio/pizza alla pala and pizza tonda.

Regardless, solid spot in a beautiful neighbourhood. Good job Ton'.
