This former Fisherman's Wharf cannery, a listed historic monument, is decorated in a nautical style with ropes and buoys.
This former Fisherman's Wharf cannery has been rehabilitated into an original 252-room hotel. The building, a listed historic monument, was built in red brick after the 1906 earthquake. Nautical decor is omnipresent: lifebuoys above the beds, starfish cushions, ropes printed on the carpet... The rooms are large and luxurious, and the suites downright immense. The hotel's Blue Mermaid restaurant lives up to its high standards. Plus: pets are welcome and 2 hours of free cycling.

Just please be aware parking is extra but it’s Valet. Also so recommend walking the side of the building for a beautiful surprise of a mom n pop owned ice cream shop right next door.
The building is a converted warehouse that has major noise insulation issues — meaning you can hear everything from guests on either side of your room, right down to normal talking volume between two people or when someone is on a call. It makes the rooms unliveable, as if you’re in a hostel situation sharing with other guests.
I had to be moved rooms late at night just so I could sleep — this was very disruptive and upsetting as I was travelling for work & needed decent rest. Not to mention a completely unsustainable business model when they’re fully booked. To add fuel to the flame, they refused to offer me any compensation or a refund for the week so I could stay at another hotel with a quiet room.
Further to this, they took my credit card as security which is normal practice — but they put a hold on it, locking close to $1000 in funds on my card for the week. This is on the very upper limit for a hotel and feels very unreasonable. As someone who travels a lot for work, I’ve never been asked to shell out this much money for potential incidentals in the past ~8 years.
Be very aware — don’t make the same mistake I did and book this place.

Thanks for your response. Your side jab on my review history in effort to abdicate your responsibility was not lost on me. I did in fact offer you three opportunities to rectify the issue asking that management return my calls to address the concern — they never did. Guess I’ll just have to take your word on your A-class service ;)
