Charming hotel with the best value in San Francisco, offering rooms decorated and designed in a retro universe

A charming little hotel in a house built just after the 1906 earthquake, its rooms are unbeatable for the area. On the other hand, the cheapest rooms are on the dark side of the corridor. Choose a room with a view (and therefore a window) of the street. Although small, they are decorated with a lot of flowery patchworks, but the whole is thought out in a fun retro universe. Bathrooms and toilets on the landing for all rooms, except for the penthouse on the roof which has a terrace and private bathroom, superb.

Walking distance to some great sights and best food in San Francisco. 10 mins safe clean walk to Little Italy & Chinatown.

I’ve stayed here a dozen times since the 1990’s. Please give the place a good deep clean, especially the old carpeting ( stairs has years old dust on the treads) and a good dusting of the bathroom shelves etc. As mentioned elsewhere, the old bed coverlets are threadbare and need replacing as do the pillows. As new owners, please live up to the reputation you’ve been fortunate to inherit. Footnote: regarding your (most likely AI) reply -classic error that your (again, AI bot!) erroneously promised to take seriously the issues for one of your other hotels named the Beach Cottages. Really?

Major conference in town so it was hard to find an affordable and safe place to stay. Thank goodness I found this place. It was my first time booking a hotel with a communal bathroom. Reminded me of my college dorm days but much cleaner and nicer. Wasn’t a big deal considering the more pricier options. PROS — Clean, Walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf and many restaurants. Convenient location in a mostly residential area. Italian restaurant downstairs, Mexican restaurant down the block and cafes nearby. Try Butter and Crumbles bakery a couple blocks down to have crazy good delicious pastries. Each room was unique. CONS — the sink in my room had seen better days (room 38). For the price I paid at the time, the room lacked basics like tissue, travel size lotion, notepad etc. The stairs, common areas needed a good vacuuming. It was however a very busy week. Heads-up, you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the hotel.
The staff were very nice and helpful! Overall, it was a good choice.
