This hotel occupies the top of Nob Hill. Its massing puts it in the shadow of its famous neighbor, Grace Cathedral, which faces it. Opened in 1907, the hotel has played host to many American presidents, from Truman to Clinton. It was here that the United Nations Charter was drafted in 1945 and the Bush-Gorbachev summit was held in 1980.
