Hotel with a view of the bustling Union Square, offers comfortable rooms at a good value
This surprisingly inexpensive 3-star hotel offers a bird's-eye view of bustling Union Square from its rooms. Built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, this historic skyscraper was the tallest building in San Francisco at the time! The 137 rooms are simply ventilated and combine classic and contemporary furnishings in soothing gray tones. An address with excellent service, a friendly welcome and a truly ideal location.

Very good for what you pay. However, the place is old and the hallways and rooms have an old hotel smell. My party and I found the bed to be way too soft and the lack of power outlets was a bit annoying. Fun thing they have is a popcorn machine occasionally in the evening.

The bed itself is extremely soft perfect for me but my spouse doesn't like it very much, if you're expecting a hard bed then you're probably not going to find that here. It's not too loud and it's right next to Union square so walking to shops and tourist activities is really easy. It's just down the street from Chinatown as well. Parking is a little bit difficult as they don't offer it directly included with the room, and their parking garage is just up the road by the Marriott.
There is a small bar in the lobby and complimentary water, coffee, and tea. At night time they also have cookies that are offered at the front counter which we absolutely loved.
Overall though it is a very nice hotel to be staying at if you're looking for something that's very comfortable, easy to access, and not too much out of a tighter budget.
