When it opened in the 1920s, The Warfield presented vaudeville and jazz concerts. It took on a new lease of life when Bob Dylan performed there in 1979. Jerry Garcia, guitarist of the Grateful Dead, made it his second home, playing here a total of 88 times with his various bands... The story also goes that the Clash refused to give their concert until the first two rows of seats were removed to allow the audience to dance. Guns and Roses and Slayer also performed there. The list goes on!
