If Franciscan hipsters think about the environment all year round, they think about it particularly on this night at the end of March, when all lights go out for an hour. The aim is to show the impact of small, everyday gestures on the planet's energy economy. This "hour for the planet" was initiated by WWF and the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper in Australia, before being taken up by the city of San Francisco.
