COLUMBUS TOWER - SENTINEL BUILDING
Building flanked by turrets and green copper in San Francisco housing an Italian-influenced café, wine bar and bistro
Admire this building designed by Salfield & Kohlberg in 1907, just one year after the great earthquake. The contrast with the sharp lines of the neighboring Transamerica Pyramid is striking. It was in this building, flanked by turrets and green copper, that filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola set up the offices of hisAmerican Zoetrope Company back in 1970. The first floor features Café Zoetrope, an Italian-influenced wine bar and bistro.
