JANIS JOPLIN HOUSE
Janis Joplin's house on Lyon Street in San Francisco remains emblematic
Janis Joplin arrived in the 1960s from her native Texas to settle in San Francisco. She lived at several addresses, but the one on Lyon Street remains emblematic. At the beginning of the Summer of Love, the singer stopped her studies in sociology and concentrated on her passion: music. World famous artist, psychedelic rock singer and figure of the hippie years, she died in 1970 of an overdose of alcohol and heroin here in San Francisco, at only 27 years old and only two weeks after the death of another legend, Jimi Hendrix.
