HIGH POINT
Fort classified as a historical monument and managed by the National Park Service, used as a setting for a scene in the film Vertigo by Hitchcock
It was during the American Civil War, called the Civil War, that this fort was built in 1848 to protect the passage of the Golden Gate in case of an attack from the Confederate fleet. 126 cannons watched over the bay for fear of the capture of the port of San Francisco. The fort is now a designated historic monument and is managed by the National Park Service. It is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The scene in Hitchcock's film Vertigo, where Kim Novak tries to drown herself, takes place exactly at this place... An impressive place not to be missed.
