SUTRO BATHS
Park in San Francisco with magnificent ruins of giant baths on the Pacific Ocean
To get there, bus 38 on Geary, get off at the end of the line and walk down the cliff for about 10 minutes. Otherwise take a cab. Beautiful ruins of the baths on the Pacific Ocean. These baths were built in 1896 by Adolph Sutro, then mayor of San Francisco. The idea of this millionaire entrepreneur was to give as many people as possible the right to leisure and rest. A park, Playland, was built next to these giant baths (but was destroyed by fire in 1966) and the story goes that Walt Disney, a friend of Sutro, was inspired by it for his famous park.
