FERRY BUILDING
Building topped by a clock of almost 69 m becoming a market recognized on the local and international food scene
Built in 1898, the Ferry Building is still a terminal for ferries crossing the bay to the east and north. The building, designed by American architect A. Page Brown, is topped by an almost 69-metre clock, largely inspired by the ancient minaret of the Giralda in Seville. The body of the building, 201 metres long, is reminiscent of the great arcaded naves of 19th-century European passageways. After being abandoned by passengers, the building became a recognized market on the local and international food scene in 2003.
