DRAGON GATE
Dragon entrance, gloriously decorated Pailou style door, a male lion on the west side and a female lioness on the east side
A gloriously decorated gateway, the "Dragon's Entrance" marks the beginning of Chinatown's main thoroughfare. Built in 1969 as a gift from Taiwan, it is in the Pailou style. On the west side is a male lion, while opposite, on the east side, is a female lioness. Around the door are Chinese inscriptions, one of which reads "All under heaven is for the good of people". As you pass through the door, you can see the gold dragon lampposts that lit up Grant Avenue in the 1920s. Welcome to Chinatown!
