Charming garden with an authentic windmill, with tulips as a symbol of peace and reconciliation
Located west of Golden Gate Park, this charming garden sees more than a thousand tulips bloom each year at the foot of the imposing Dutch windmill. This authentic windmill, dating from 1902, was used to pump water from Strawberry Hill and water the surrounding flower plants. Queen Wilhelmina ruled during the World Wars when her country lost its colonial empire. For the Netherlands, tulips have become a symbol of peace and reconciliation.
