A pagoda, a Buddha statue, a small wooden bridge, a Zen garden and bonsais: a small Zen paradise not to be missed!
An enclave of tranquility. This garden and its pagoda were conceived for the Panama Pacific Exposition of 1915. When the Exposition closed, Japanese landscape architect Makoto Hagiwara became the janitor of the property, devoting all his wealth and talent to this garden. Buddha statue, small wooden bridge, Zen garden and dwarf trees, Japanese waitresses in traditional dress serving tea in a timeless setting conducive to meditation. The cherry trees are in bloom in March and April and give the garden an air of paradise.
