SEWARD STREET SLIDES
Fun little corner in a tiny park in Castro Valley with giant slides ideal for kids and adults
In the heart of a tiny park nestled in Castro Valley, giant slides glide between the trees. How did these immense stone gutters get there? In the late 1960s, when a design competition to rehabilitate the park was won by 14-year-old Kim Clark. Kim proposed a toboggan ride through the park. In 1973, the idea was inaugurated. Since then, young and old have been sneaking into this crazy little corner. You're welcome to take the plunge, but it's best to have a piece of cardboard with you to soften the slide!
