BERKELEY CITY CLUB
High standing hotel offering rooms that ensure a comfortable stay
The 35 rooms of this luxury boutique hotel ensure a comfortable stay in an elegant building. Close to the university, the Berkeley City Club was built in 1929 by Julia Morgan, famous for her architectural masterpiece, the Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Listed as a historic building since 1977, the atmosphere is solemn and the decor refined. We particularly appreciate the hotel's swimming pool, which offers a chic setting. You'll find yourself in a palatial setting, with Julia's restaurant serving French cuisine.

2 out of 5 stars only for the courtyard and architecture. Otherwise I would rate it with one star.
Waited an hour to check-in and encountered unfriendly staff. The reservation clearly said that check in is at 3pm, but the room wasn't ready until 4-20. The room smelled bad and had no working AC. To top it off, the restaurant was closed. Noise from other rooms and clanging pipes made sleep impossible, and the water was rusty. In order to access the pool you have to make an advanced reservations which is not clear upon booking.
Cannot recommend.
