One of Oakland's oldest restaurants is a real institution that locals love. Famous for its brunch and soul in a dinner decor. Specialty: the Reggie Jackson Special.

Had porkchops with grits, eggs. Apple juice! This lasted me 2 days and I was satisfied. The quality is good the service was great.. no complaints here. It's a older place but I looked at photographs of famous ppl while waiting for food. Just nostalgic... I'd return

The ambiance is that of genuine and authentic soul food with southern hospitality. The history behind the legendary and authentic family dishes is truly exceptional. I highly recommend the fresh fried chicken along with the waffles.
The place does get crowded- so get there early. Very historic landmark area.
Corey is always cheerful and welcoming. Totally worth the drive.

EXPENSIVE. $20 for a waffle with fruit? Or for an omelette? I cannot understand why the prices are so high. Maybe the owners are trying to capitalize on the history of the diner, but it makes it unrealistic for the average person to eat here. It’s a shame.
