Fox Oakland Theatre classified as a historical monument and now a prestigious concert hall
The Fox Oakland Theatre opened its doors in 1928. Of Moorish inspiration, the building is surmounted by a dome covered with blue mosaics. With a very elaborate facade, it is one of the largest cinemas in the bay. But, in 1970, following financial problems, the cinema must close. At the end of the decade, it is even question of razing it. Fortunately, the project was blocked and the Fox Theatre was classified as a historical monument. Today, it has been renovated and has become a prestigious concert hall.
