Sam Vella, a Maltese, decided in 1920 to open this restaurant after working seven years in hotels in San Francisco. At the very beginning it is only a tent on Tiburon Beach where it sells sandwiches. Today, Sam's Café is known to everyone and some of the San-Franciscans are queuing up so that they can enjoy seafood from the day, facing the ocean. The atmosphere is very warm and the seafood, the speciality of the house, are excellent. Moreover, what does not spoil anything, prices are not exorbitant. Fine wine list.

Something fishy here and that is a good thing. Enjoy the local fare and the views. Skip Sausalito and come over here instead.

I’ve been to Sam's a few times and have always been taken by the place’s charm. But, during my last visit for a late lunch, the fried chicken sandwich was served at such a high temperature that it left me with a blister on my lip. I’ve tried reaching out by phone to discuss this concern, but haven’t had any luck getting through. I’m hoping this message might prompt the team at Sam’s to take a moment to review their food temperatures for safety reasons.

Beautiful day out on the patio. Fish Tacos and Crab on Toast for a light bite. Other patrons were friendly too.

Had an amazing experience for my birthday at this place. We started with some Calamari, one of the best Ive ever had, right texture and taste and with a delicious dipping sauce on the side. As entrées we had Cioppino and the Fish of the Day, both fantastic, specially the fish (halibut) accompanied by butternut squatch and brussel sprouts with a touch of bacon, the flavor combination was fantastic. The tossup salad was also very tasty, very filling, rich and refreshing at the same time. For dessert we got the cheesecake and the mousse, both great with the cheesecake being served with this delicious berry sauce. We had amazing service from Nikki, very sweet and attentive lady. We were very pleased by her and the restaurants ambiance. Since we did dinner, next time I want to have lunch to enjoy more of the great views from their deck.
