This is Clint Eastwood's restaurant. The setting is friendly and wooded, even rustic. The hunter's type with its boar heads and its frames straight out of a western movie, one would almost think one was in a saloon. A fireplace is installed outside and manages to give character to a dinner by the fire. The menu includes American specialties such as grills, sandwiches and salads as well as classic Mexican dishes. Prices are relatively reasonable. Keep an eye out for the famous owner who drops by from time to time.

Incredible experience here at the Hogs Breath Inn. Staff comfortably seated a party of 11 for us, and took care of us very well. The food was incredible, I got some of the best fish and chips I've had on the peninsula. To drink I had The Beautiful Carmel, a pleasant blend of Orange Cognac and Penut Butter Whiskey. I'm not usually a cocktail guy, but that was delicious and refreshing. I look forward to coming back here next time I'm in town.

This is a durable Carmel institution. The food is good, the service also, and the decor is vintage Eastwood which has morphed from kitch to camp over the decades. Oodles of outdoor seating which takes full advantage of the climate. It would be hard to imagine Carmel without Hog's Breath. Have I had better chilli? Not often, but yes. Steak sandwich? Kinda, but that's not important. Comfort food. No surprises, and no disappointments in all the years. This is a must-do in Carmel, sort of like Wall Drug in South Dakota. You'll be deprived if you miss it. Truthfully, we do at least one lunch every trip. Perhaps it's because Hog's Breath requires nothing of you but to just relax and eat.
