A nice menu that changes according to the times of the day (breakfast, happy time, dinner). Fresh and simple products and fast service at reasonable rates. In short, a very good address, installed in a simple and class decor.

This is easily one of the best restaurants in Sacramento. I hold that in high regard because I am a Sacramento native who absolutely loves the foodie scene here. Their farm to fork menu is inventive and unique. Cocktails fresh and balanced; even a classic like Negroni was surprisingly different. Their wine list includes natural wine; local producers (Haarmeyer and Perch) as well as other small producers around the globe and stateside. Their seasonal menu keeps you guessing but some staples are the pork belly (I typically don’t eat this but it’s so so good here), white bean hummus and beef tartare. Please don’t be fooled by the “cafe” label; this is a gourmet experience for fit for a special occasion, date night or just a solo every day meal. The whole chicken is my husband’s fave! My only regret is not trying this place sooner!

Our first visit in 3 years - used to be our go-to pre-Covid for always-great Sunday brunch menu and a tough ticket - always a wait to get a table. Return was a disappointment. Only
Lunch and dinner now. Near empty restaurant for lunch. Daily special was a burger that was fine but not special. French fries limp. Good service. Nice desserts.

Ageism going strong here! I read online that this establishment was hiring. The request was for applicants to stop by, drop off a resume and ask to speak with the manager. I did that. However, the manager took a quick look at me and simply told me that the position had been filled and wasn’t even interested in keeping my resume on file. (It’s a restaurant, they’ll eventually need to hire people.) I’m 52. It was a blow. Going with my gut, I sent my 22 yo daughter in the very next day. The exact same manager was happy to speak with her and wanted her resume. Hmmmm. ????

Magpie is the crown jewel of Sacramento's farm to fork restaurant scene.

Top to bottom, their menu is really second to none. The highest quality of ingredients executed to perfection every single time.

Over the years, have probably tried just about everything on their menu and can honestly say that I've never once been disappointed.

In the post COVID world of restaurants, they have found a way to maintain their high quality without skimping on portions or inflating their prices.

The place is a gem and our go to a nice meal out in Midtown.
