PAPHOS HAMMAM
Covered in domes and cupolas, this late Ottoman hammam is superb, but closed to visitors.
Covered with domes and cupolas, these "Ottoman baths" (Οθωμανικά Λουτρά/Othomanika Loutra) were erected in the late 16th century by Governor Mehmet Bey Ebubekir. The three large common rooms and small individual spaces were in use until the first clashes between communities in the 1950s. Later transformed into a museum, then a café-restaurant, the hammam has been closed since the late 2010s. Above, the terrace of the Caffè Nero offers beautiful views of Kato Paphos and the shoreline. Location: in Ktima, below the municipal market.
