This museum (Κέντρο Γεωλογίας και Παλαιοντολογίας Ακάμα/Kentro Geologias kai Palaiontologias Akama, Akamas Geology and Paleontology Information Centre) is located in the village of Pano Arodes/Πάνω Αρόδες, which borders the Avakas Gorge. Well-designed, it is dedicated to geology and paleontology in the Akamas region. It houses superb rocks and crystals as well as the bones of a dwarf hippopotamus from Cyprus, a species that became extinct 9,000 years ago.
