Mountain village abandoned in 1980 following an earthquake. The church and some of the houses are well preserved.
Known as "Old Theletra" (Παλιά Θελέτρα/Palia Theletra), this abandoned village spreads out on a mountainside 500 m above sea level. It was evacuated in 1980, following an earthquake that led to fears of landslides. The church and some of the houses are well preserved. A motorcycle, bicycles and bottles can still be found on the spot. The "new Theletra" lies 500 m below (2 km by road) and has a population of around 250.
