GRAVITY ROAD
A strange optical phenomenon between Kritou Tera and Polis: the E 711 road seems to be going up... when in fact it's going down. To be tested by car.
Strange: between Kritou Tera and Polis, shortly after Pittokopos/Πιττοκόπος, the E 711 road gives the impression of going uphill, whereas in fact it follows a slight downhill slope. This stretch is called Gravity Road, Anti-Gravity Hill or "magnetic field" in Greek (Μαγνητικό Πεδίο/Magnetiko Pedio). This is an optical phenomenon known as the "magnetic coast", caused by a lack of landmarks without a clear horizon. You can try this out by driving without accelerating, or by switching off the engine: the car will seem to be going up on its own... whereas it's actually going down.
