CAP ARNAOUTIS
At the tip of the peninsula, near Fontana Amorosa, this rocky desert cape is the most westerly point of Cyprus.
At the tip of the peninsula, this cape (Ακρωτήριο Αρναούτη/Akrotirio Arnaouti) is the westernmost point of Cyprus. The place is barren and rocky, adorned only by a proskynitaria (miniature chapel). On the heights: the Akamas "lighthouse", a simple beacon on a hut 200 m above sea level. This is 2.8 km from Fontana Amorosa, and most visitors come by boat. But you can also get here by bike or on foot. The cape owes its name to the Albanians, then known as the Arnaoutes, who worked here as coastguards for the Venetians.
