PANAGIA GALOKTISTI CHAPEL
This chapel bears the strange name of "Vierge-Faite-de-Lait". Fragments of frescoes inside.
This Greek Orthodox chapel (Ξωκλήσι της Παναγίας της Γαλόκτιστης/Xoklisi tis Panagias tis Galoktistis) dates back to the 12th and 16th centuries. It bears the strange name of "Virgin-Made-of-Milk": according to legend, it was built by shepherds who used their sheep's milk instead of water to mortar the walls. We don't know if it was done on purpose, but its small dome is reminiscent of a nipple. Inside: a single nave and fragments of frescoes.
