MARCO ISLAND HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Fort Myers Park with picnic pavilions and numerous free-roaming sea manatee viewing areas
The museum features a large collection of over 200 artifacts from the Native American peoples, primarily the Calusas Indians, who lived on Marco Island for over 6,000 years. Many of them were discovered in 1896 by Frank Hamilton Cushing. These objects are among the most spectacular pieces of pre-Columbian art ever discovered. In addition, a reconstructed Native American village allows visitors to see how these indigenous peoples lived
