NAPLES ZOO AT CARIBBEAN GARDENS
Private tropical garden transformed into a zoo in Naples with numerous plants and more than 50 species of endangered animals
A 21-hectare tropical garden with many plants and more than 50 endangered animal species. Much of the information and entertainment is aimed at raising awareness of species preservation. Built in 1920 as a private garden for botanist Henry Nerhling, it was transformed into a zoo in 1968. It is one of only 10% of American zoos to be accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, a seal of approval for animal living conditions.
